One Block Wonders are one of the most unique quilting techniques. It is a creative way to use up extra fabric or even purchase sale fabric that is “ugly” or you would not normally use to sew a project. The reason it works so well is because no matter what the appearance of the fabric is, the end result will be completely different and abstract.
Let’s look at an example:
1. We are going to take a kid’s theme panel with monkeys to create our One Block Wonder.
2. Now, we want to see what our One Block Wonder will look like as an end result. On your cell phone, tablet or computer, go to the Design Helper at https://oneblockwonder.com/design-helper/. Follow the instructions and take a photo of your fabric panel or piece and upload.
3. The photo on the app shows how the triangles are cut and how they can be arranged. Cut your triangles.
4. The app will show you what the end result could look like. Within the app you can also change around the organization of the design. This has to do with where you would place your cut triangle pieces. Look at the amazing transformation below!
This is such a fun technique where any fabric or theme will work! The results are a vibrant and interesting work of art!
